Project Malaysia - The Politics of Race
Prominent human rights lawyer Malik Imtiaz and friends has just launched Project Malaysia - An Experiment in Naton Building; and its first theme is the Politics of Race.
Please read this. It is engaging, inspiring and instil hope for a better future. I quote some parts.
Race, its implications and its consequences permeate through our lives, and shape them, in a way that is unparalleled anywhere else in the world.
the proverbial system has become so inherently incapable that it undermines our continued ability to compete in an increasingly challenging world even as it has led to a fracturing of Malaysian society.
Proponents of race-based politics argue a continued need for racially delineated political power sharing on two main grounds rooted in history. Firstly, pointing to the Merdeka negotiations
Secondly, against the backdrop of the race riots of May 1969, they contend that any other approach would necessarily result in the marginalizing of the Malays, not just economically but also culturally, especially in the matter of religion. This, they assert, would have the invariable consequence of civil unrest and, were such unrest serious enough, political instability.
These arguments are however inherently flawed
The nurturing of the belief has resulted in an undermining of the Malay community itself through an erosion of confidence and self-esteem, a process aided by the way in which the need for affirmative action has been dealt with.
Is it too late to approach things differently now?
Prior to March 8th this year, this seemed a remote possibility. The politics of race seemed to have been too entrenched and 'Bangsa Malaysia' was a cry in the wilderness.
If you have the time, please read the full version here.

Rick Low-Tycoon, will have to wait
I am sorry, Rick. There are just too many things going on now.
Do they really think they can block out Raja Petra? That they can block out opinions and views expressed over the internet?
What do they know! The world is never going to go back to where it was. Information will be available easily, readily and freely. People will express their feelings, opinions and beliefs regardless of any attempts to block such. The internet is unstoppable. Believe It!
Anwar is already back in Parliament and has staged a walkout on his first day. Exciting times are ahead.
Prediction time again. I believe there will be 30 walkovers. There will be a change in Government. However, I find it difficult to respect this 30 people. Kingmakers are not my favorite people. On the other hand, it is not difficult to respect the people in Pakatan Rakyat, save Anwar. These are the people who have been fighting for justice altruistically. Before the General Election in March, would anyone have joined Keadilan and the DAP to jostle into financial gain and power? Did you think it possible that the opposition will take 5 states and deny Barison Nasional of a two third majority in Parliament?
The only suspect would be Anwar. As I mentioned earlier, I do not like Anwar very much but I would like him to be our next Prime Minister. It is my opinion that this is the best alternative currently.
Today I read in the Star newspaper that the ACA has arrested many people working in Puspakom. I wonder how the selection process on which department to target went. Actually, the ACA can just go almost anywhere, any government department and make arrests. Poor Puspakom.
Sorry again, Rick. Perhaps tomorrow.

If this interference ordered by the Malaysians Communications and MultiMedia Commission is true, then it is a sad day indeed for freedom of expressions.
Anwar for Parliament
What I said in a previous post 2 days ago.
With a 81% turn-out and a 15,000 win margin, I could be the next Nostradamus. I know, I know, it is just a little bit more difficult than predicting that it will rain again this coming afternoon.
So Stage 1 shall see Anwar sitting right in front of Badawi in Parliament. We shall all be looking at him doing the checking and the balancing.
Stage 2 may see 30 fellows coming over from the other side and help form the next Government. Should that happen, then we shall all be looking at him and his team doing the right things. Should things turn out otherwise, will Raja Petra be there to spearhead the cyber opposition?
Let us hope that our hopes are all not in vain.

Najib - A Practising Hindu?
Thagarajoo in his Statutory Declaration (talking about being in fashion) said Najib is a practising Hindu. Read here in Raja Petra's Malaysia-Today.
This is getting pretty ridiculous.
Okay, it may be necessary in this political game to run down each other, assassinate characters to succeed in winning this Prime Ministership and to enable a side to form or remain in the Government.
I shall not pretend to understand politics as it is so obvious that I don't. How can I be so naive as to think it is always about issues of the Rakyat. Corruption, Cronyism, Wanton Power, Wastage of Public Funds, National and State Development, Education, Eradication of Poverty, Equality, Stability etc. What do I know!
Well, I hope Raja Petra is doing the right things, the means being just temporary to enable a change in regime and install a new leader in the form of Anwar Ibrahim. After which, everybody should get down to business to govern responsibly and look into nation building. I am extremely tired of hearing this and that party 'struggle'. Looks that everybody has been 'struggling' over the last 50 years with no results.
Wallahi, Wabillahi, Watallahi and its equivalent in all other religious beliefs, Let us all look forward to better times, for us and our future generations.

Work Out and Drink Up
At times, you could be doing something right for many years and do not realize that you have been doing it right all the while. What I am doing right (I hope) is that I drink regularly (actually daily on weekdays). Mostly, moderately.
On another occassion I shall address smoking 2 packs/day, have sex 45 times a month, eat fried lard by the bowl, compulsive lying every hour, etc.
Coming back to this drink thing, I google (did not use blackle, the screen's too dark) on the article and I found it. Here, I reproduce unabridged. Watch out for the part that says what if you drink and not exercise; is it better than not drinking and not exercising? Naturally the moderate practice of both would be ideal.
By SANJAY GUPTA, M.D.
A new study of cardiac health has yielded a happy formula: start with moderate exercise, at least 30 min. to 1 hr. a day and add moderate alcohol consumption
Erik Isakson / Getty; Maren Caruso / Getty
If you want to live a long and healthy life, you're probably trying to eat right, exercise regularly and get enough sleep. Good steps. Now how about adding a little alcohol to your regimen?
That's right. It is well documented that tossing a few drinks back in a week (and that means a few: up to one a day for women, up to two for men) has potential heart benefits. But researchers in Denmark decided to look further. Could drinking alcohol have a benefit similar to that of exercise?
"If you don't want to exercise too much," asks Dr. Morten Gronbaek, epidemiologist with Denmark's National Institute of Public Health, "can you trade it for one to two drinks per day and be fine?" A study Gronbaek and colleagues just published in the European Heart Journal suggests the answer just may be yes. That finding, not surprisingly, has proved to be a crowd-pleaser.
There are a number of reasons a drink can be such a tonic. First, alcohol and exercise affect your heart health in similar ways. "They help increase good cholesterol, or HDL [high-density lipoproteins], and clean the circulatory system's pipes," says Dr. Arthur Klatsky, a cardiologist and researcher at Kaiser Permanente Northern California. "HDL helps remove fatty deposits, created by bad cholesterol, or LDL [low-density lipoproteins], from blood-vessel walls. The higher the HDL, the less likely vascular disease becomes. The lower the HDL, the more likely."
Gronbaek and his team surveyed 12,000 people over a 20-year period. They found that exercise and drinking alcohol each had an independent beneficial effect on the heart and a compounded effect when practiced together. The investigators got even greater insight when they separated the study participants into four categories.
People who don't drink at all and don't exercise had the highest risk of heart disease. People who drink moderately and exercise had a 50% lower risk. Teetotaling exercisers had a 30% decreased risk, as did moderately drinking couch potatoes. "There's an additional protective effect to doing both," says Gronbaek. "That's the new finding."
This study is part of a growing body of work that makes a medical virtue out of what was once seen as a vice. There is evidence that alcohol in combination with caffeine can limit the damage to your brain after a stroke, even though it may not lower your risk of having a stroke in the first place. Other possible benefits include lowering your risk of diabetes, improving insulin sensitivity in postmenopausal women and decreasing dementia rates in older adults who had been consuming one to six drinks per week.
Before you rush off to hit the bar after your workout, keep in mind that your age matters. Alcohol may do you no coronary good until you reach the age at which heart disease becomes an appreciable risk. "You wouldn't advise everyone to drink," says Gronbaek. "You shouldn't even think about doing it until age 45 or 50. There's absolutely no proof of a preventative and protective effect before age 45." Also, younger women who have a higher risk of breast cancer and anyone who has a family history of alcoholism should pass on the pint and order a soda.
And remember, moderation is everything. Gronbaek's study, like most, stuck to the one-drink-a-day standard for women and up to two a day for men. It did not distinguish between type (wine vs. beer) or size (pint vs. shot). But here common sense must rule. A 10-oz. martini is a lot more than a 6-oz. serving of wine, even if they each fit in one glass. And it goes without saying that you should never drink your weekly allotment all at once.

Cheers guys. Wanna catch up for a drink?, .. or two?

Borat
I watch this movie "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan." some months back.
You could have seen this hilarious, slapstick comedy of a movie about a Kazakhstan reporter played by Sacha Baron Cohen, coming to America to learn the culture so as to benefit his country. Borat has an older sister, Natalya (who he has claimed at different times to be "the number four best prostitute in Kazakhstan") and a younger brother, Bilo, he described as mentally retarded. Superb entertainment on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Pamela Anderson was in this movie.
I may be the only one interested to know how the hell this guy looks like normally. Anyhow, a few pictures for comparisons.
With expectant wife Isla Fischer.

KC Han
KC Han, will writer extraordinaire.
KC Han joined Canon in 1989 and left in the same year. Ordinarily, very few will know much about or remember if a person joined Canon for less than a year. She was introduced in by one of our studs then, Thomas Wong.
But,
She had one of the most attractive pair of legs and she was not afraid to show them repeatedly by wearing mini skirts on a regular basis. Jack Lim was our Managing Director then and he decreed that KC Han must stopped that nonsense. She was driving the men wild, much like schoolgirls nowadays in their white blouse uniforms. And so, then the end of the view.
She was then in my team doing supplies. Most competent I dare say.
She left to join Nestle downstairs. We were then in Wisma Hong Leong-Yamaha. So the ogling continued.
Then she disappeared for many years.
Today, who is she? Ask Liew Sip Chon, me, Andrew Kong, Eric Er, Jeremy Lee, Lim Kok Hin, Mike Cheong, anybody. Chances are that if you cast a pebble in any directions in Canon, you may hit somebody who has a Will done by KC Han.
She is today the 2nd most successful Will Writer in this country. The first is in Penang. And she was 1st due to her team of a few people writing Wills under her name adding to the numbers. Otherwise our KC Han is numero uno.
We all know the importance of writing a Will in an untimely death event. Surviving members having to do a 'treasure hunt' and unnecessary disputes alone make it a good thing to do and upkeep.
Call her at 012-292 2068. You will not regret it. A simple will is only a few hundred ringgits. I recommend wills by Rockwills over ones that your lawyer can do.
KC Han, if you read this, one lunch and one beer for every successful sign-up.
Here are 2 pictures of her 19 years ago. Hot! Hot! Hot!

Being a Chinese,
In his August 11, 2008 posting "The One With The Olympic... and The By Election" on his blog, he started off writing...
Sitting in front of a laptop looking out from the window I saw, maple leafs and left hand drive cars... and at certain time of the year, I’ll see snow and gale.
Yup… being a Chinese, with the above signs means you are not in your beloved “Home”. And yes, home it’s not in London or New York or Dubai or Taiwan. Home is where all your friends are (or used to be), where your parents live, where you keep your first bicycle or Ultraman toys and most importantly the roads you know so well.
He wrote "being a Chinese" . Not so strange among us Malays, Chinese and Indians in Malaysia to express in this manner. However I hazard a guess that it would be extremely strange with the rest of the world. Michael Chang will not say it. Nastia Liukin and Maria Sharapova will not say they are Russians, Will Smith will not refer to himself as an African or Arnold Schwarzenegger will not say he is currently an Austrian.
On my first trip to Tokyo, I remembered sitting next to 2 elderly Americans during a lunch and the woman remarked then that I spoke very good English. I replied saying that I am not a Japanese but rather a Chinese and I attended a English medium school. I noticed that the man straightaway whispered to his companion and they stopped talking to me altogether. They must have thought that I came from China. (China was then still very Communistic and I could be a government spy).
After 50 years of Independence, it is my opinion that our governmental administration has failed miserably. We are as divided as ever, if not more so. I used to have Malay and Indian friends while my kids today have none. I just can't buy this bull about other countries sending people here to study how we can so successfully live in harmony with this power sharing shit.
Ho Bak Kee mentioned that he thought I may want to go into politics. Of course not. I do not have the necessary qualities. However, today I am a concerned citizen.
I have never liked Anwar, but I would like him to be our next Prime Minister. If you have somebody else who advocates all that he said about equal opportunities for all, judiciary independence, corruption eradication, getting rid of cronyism and the tremendous wastage of public funds; I shall openly support him or her. Meanwhile, I say give Anwar a chance to deliver. What have we got to lose considering the other alternative.
I thank you for reading.

Lee Chong Wei
"I have the confidence to win the third game despite I lost the second one,"
He said this after when he got rid of Lee Hyun-il, the South Korean in the semis.
Lee Chong Wei said the chance to win over his possible rival, Chinese world top-ranked Lin Dan, stood at 50-50 and he would pay more attention to defense in the fight against Lin.
Actually, I do not care what he says as long as he brings back the gold. I hope he abstains from fooling around with his readily available girlfriend Wong Mew Choo.
Or maybe he should. Men usually feel kinda gungho after some of those stuff. Could maybe make a difference between what metal he may bring back. Gold or Silver.
After Maria Sharapova, now Nastia Liukin. These Russian fathers sure know how to make number ones of their children by bringing them to the US of A from Motherland Russia. Makes me think maybe, I too should have taken my children to that land Christopher Columbus founded in 1492.

Charles Chang
He joined Canon to do Electronic Typewriters from Adler Business Machines. (Yes, Canon used to do typewriters like Fuji used to do films and Abdullah Badawi used to be a farmer.)
On a common interest loop, I came across this picture.
The guy on the left just have to be him, so I made contact and discovered that he is still alive.
The other two fellows were my old schoolmates. They were having some kind of a food party in either Kuala Pilah or Bahau.
Way back when Canon used to be a division in Mulpha Trading Sdn Bhd, we had 3 Charlie's Angels in the Building Materials Division, namely Fuzi, Boey Wai Ching and Rosalind Kam. Fuzi told me a couple of times that Charles looked like a rapist. Of course, what Fuzi meant was that whenever a girl look at Charles, she thinks of sex.
Currently Charles runs a chain of print shops under the "Print Station" banner. He too has a farm, I heard, on Dragon Fruits. Still going strong, this man.
Coming up below is him again 25 years ago. I would be lying if I said he did not look older. But beware of testing his sexual prowess. He wasn't called the "Rapist" for nothing.
See if you can spot which one is him. His smile is exactly the same. Hey, I looked pretty young here too, don't you think? We also have Patrick Yee, Rosie Goh, Linda Ang, William Augustin, Larry Poon and Steven Wong here.
The next CanonMalaysian to be featured on this blog will be Will Writer Extraordinaire KC Han.

Paris Hilton for President
McCain has instituted some TV advertisements saying Obama is a celebrity like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears and insinuating his lack of calibre, asking "Is He Ready to Lead?" He said that the popular Obama has even 200 thousand spectators supporting him on his last trip to Berlin, Germany. Popular yes, but "Is He Ready to Lead?"
This here is the advertisment.
Since Paris Hilton was depicted in that commercial as well, she was pretty upset as being labelled a celebrity but sort of dumb (Not Ready to Lead). She promptly made a video to make fun of John McCain in response, calling John McCain an old, wrinkly white haired dude.
Here's her response.
I am currently waiting for some reactions from Britney Spears.

Anwar Ibrahim for Prime Minister
Anwar Ibrahim could be our Prime Minister by 16th September. That's just about slightly more than 1 month from now!! That's soon!! Pakatan Rakyat would have taken over the governing of this country. Back track a little, he would have won the Permatang Pauh seat on the 26th this month by a huge margin.
I don't know.
We would be on the road to eradicating corruption in the civil service. We could be like Singapore and Hongkong. We could be a society where race, creed and religion becomes personal and has nothing much to do with Malaysia as a whole. We could become competitive in the global arena. We could be a country to be reckon with. Emigrating people will then do so for new and different reasons. Their numbers will drop.
In addition, the following as part of what Anwar said on the 7th August 2008, may too materialise.
I promise that, under a Pakatan Rakyat government, Malaysians will never again be subjected to such gross abuse of executive power as we are again witnessing today (7 August 2008).
Arbitrary arrest and detention, frivolous investigation and malicious prosecutions shall be a thing of the past. Police officers and prosecutors who launch conspiracies to defame and humiliate the innocent will be severely punished. The use of police powers as well as that of the office of the Attorney General to persecute political opponents will be criminalised so as to ensure a healthy and vibrant democracy where dissent is not only tolerated but also nurtured.
In this regard, every Malaysian’s fundamental liberties will be treated as sacrosanct and safeguarded by a truly independent judiciary guided by principles of utmost integrity and an adherence to the spirit of the federal constitution.
The politically motivated trial launched against me will, Insha’Allah, be the last of its kind. No Malaysian will suffer from this cruel injustice ever again.
I want to believe. Don't you?

We know about Lindsay and not much about DJ Samantha. I googled a little and well, here's how she looks like.
Samantha sure looks like a boy and 22 year old Lindsay is still good looking but seems to be slowly going downhill.

The M'sian Education System - Not Good Enough?
Education Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammudin Tun Hussein's son is doing O levels and will be going off to the United Kingdom this coming September to further his studies. Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's daughter, Nooryana Najwa has been accepted into Georgetown University in Washington DC to read politics and international relations after doing her IB (International Baccalaureate).
Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's children are academically smart. However, it seems like both of them did not sit for SPM.
Before doing her IB, Nooryana had her education in Garden International School. Najib's son, Norashman Razak had his education there too. But Garden International School bases its curriculum on the National Curriculum of England. It teaches the English National Curriculum through Key Stages 1 to 4 and Cambridge 'A' Level.
Datuk Seri Najib and Datuk Seri Hishamuddin are cousins. Their fathers were our former Education Ministers.
Datuk Seri Najib's father, Tun Abdul Razak, the second Prime Minister of Malaysia, was the education minister in 1955. Datuk Seri Hishamuddin's father, Tun Hussein Onn, our third Prime Minister, was the education minister in 1969. Fast forward, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak became our Education Minister in 1995-1999. Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein is our current Education Minister.
Well, there goes the saying, 'like father, like son' Hishamuddin's son and Najib's kids did not follow the Malaysian Education System (so I doubt they sat for UPSR, PMR or SPM) though they come from an ancestry of Education Ministers. Both of their grandfathers were former education ministers, one's father was the education minister and is now the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia while the other's father is the current education minister.
So why weren't Datuk Seri Najib's and Datuk Seri Hishamuddin's children following the Malaysian Education System? Were our DPM and current Education Minister trying to be kind to not let the government subsidize their kids' education by sending their offsprings to a private school instead of national schools?
Or is it that both Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein do not have confidence in the Malaysian Education System because it is too crap that they had to sent their kids to a private school which follows the English National Curriculum so that their offsprings would not be screwed up by the already screwed-up education system in Malaysia?
Which is which? I do not know but I am apt to think that the latter prevails.
*SIGH* So much for being a kind and compassionate minister. If the Malaysian Education System is not good enough, then do something to improve it. After all, that is under your portfolio.
But if the education system is not crap and of quality and standard like what you and your counterparts have mentioned countless times then why didn't your kids go through it? Why didn't your kids go through SPM, then Matriculation or STPM before gaining admission to Uni. After all, matrics and STPM have the potential to produce quality graduates, right?
How does the current government expect us to have faith in our Malaysian Education System when the DPM and current education minister did not even put their kids through it?

Richard Yeow
A post on Richard Yeow can mean only one thing. We are getting closer and closer to head honcho, numero uno .. Liew Sip Chon. I think some of you refer to him as God.
Richard was born so long ago that nobody can remember. I think maybe about the time when Christopher Columbus founded America.
Incidentally, how could have Christopher Columbus founded America when there were already people there. Weren't those people the ones to have founded America? niamah! And they say Francis Light founded Penang and Stamford Raffles founded Singapore like they were deserted islands. Such a bunch of conmen.
Richard was brought into Canon from Rank Xerox by Larry Poon. Larry was afraid of being lonely, so he brought along his cronies from Rank Xerox (now Fuji Xerox), Richard Yeow, Jack Lim (not the one you are thinking), and Philip Quek, the person who smiles all the time.
Richard was pretty thin then You see in Rank Xerox, it was quite tough making a living .. kar lan wan sek ahr. Coming to Canon then was like leaving Iraq to settle in the Bahamas. Richard was and still is an honest man. He told me a couple of time. "I can't sing, I am tone deaf." If you have not heard him sing, his good looks could have fooled you.
However, it did not stop him from trying. His friend Chua Hock Keat can't sing too, but was always there for support. A lost cause, I must conclude.
Sometimes he would go karaoke to impress the girls.
Respectfully, I must say he is one of the best salesperson I have ever known.
Whenever he tries to bring you over to see his point of view, he would first tell you, then look at you in the eyes and keep nodding his head until you too would nod yours. What a convincing fellow.
There are another 12 things I would like to reveal, but now he being the Senior Director biggest man in BIS, and can make or sodomise me; I think I am going to wait for him to retire. I don't
think I would have to wait very long. The guy is not exactly young, you know.
By the way, there is another thing. He said that if he 'kena' an incurable disease, he will consider suicide seriously. He thinks the best way is to direct car exhaust gas into the passenger chamber of a car via a hose. He said. " I think it is the best way to pass on. However, if you want to do this as well, remember to go to the toilet first. You can't go once things are on, because if you get out of the car, you may change your mind." ..
How wise!
Stand United
"Stand united. Stand to be counted. Come stand with us as we move forward in an attempt to drag Malaysia, screaming and kicking, into the next era of equality, freedom and justice for all Malaysians regardless of gender, race, creed and religion."

What do we know about Diesel?
So as not to have a true blue local Malaysian Chinaman being hoodwinked by a Mat Salleh, I checked up on his claims.
Here, please find an article I lifted off Malaysiakini written last month. So this "kwelo" Chris person do know a bit of stuff afterall.
Insidious reason behind anti-diesel policy
Ganesh Jul 2, 08 4:35pm
Petronas should stick to their specialisation of oil and gas instead of venturing into other non- related areas such as setting up hospitals or philharmonic orchestras. Investing in motorsports and F1 was viable because it was fuel-related.
Instead of investing in hospitals, Petronas should be investing in efforts to provide cleaner diesel and also promote diesel car usage. Why isn't the Malaysian government promoting diesel cars? In Europe, for every petrol car sold, three diesel cars are sold.
Why? Because diesel is a much cleaner fuel than petrol and also, surprisingly, a very efficient fuel giving nearly twice the kilometre.
Malaysians used to believe diesel cars were dirty because old lorries and old taxis used them. But that was the diesel engine of yesteryears.
Today, the diesel engine - especially the turbo diesel(TDi) car engines - produce higher bhp (more power) than a similar petrol car engine, as well as being a much cleaner fuel than petrol. In other words, it has much lesser emissions than petrol, while at the same time giving far more mileage than its petrol engine counterpart.
It is now proven by all European governments that modern car turbodiesel engines (Euro 3 and Euro 4 standards) are more efficient and less polluting (CO emission per km) compared to similar vehicles with similar petrol engine capacity. Nearly all European car manufacturers are now pushing for more diesel engines. Even Honda and Toyota produce very efficient small and large cc diesel engines.
Why are the current diesel cars in Malaysia emitting thick black smoke? Firstly, because the engines in them are about 10 to 20 years old. On the newer engines, like the Mercedes 320 Cdi and BMW 530d, don't blame the vehicles, blame the dirty diesel if you still see thick black smoke. Our diesel has a heavy sulphur content and it is this sulphur that causes a car to emit thick black smoke. The diesel engine car is very efficient. So, now, if you spend RM100 and it gave you about 400 kilometre, with diesel, you spend the same RM100 (assuming diesel and petrol are the same price) and you get about 700 to 800 kilometres of mileage. Why isn't Petronas or the government promoting cleaner diesel and also diesel cars?
If the government is sincere about helping the rakyat and alleviating the hardship of the rakyat, it should promote a fuel that gives nearly double the mileage.
At least, with the same amount of money spent for fuel, the rakyat will get nearly double the mileage with a diesel car.
Unfortunately, Petronas is not spending money on providing a cleaner diesel which conforms to EU standards but prefers building a hospital.
Has Malaysian diesel's sulfur content been reduced yet? There were plans to conform to Euro 2 standards (500ppm sulfur compared to 3000ppm currently) but I am not sure whether it has been implemented.
Singapore and Thailand have conformed to Euro 2 for years, and have now progressed to Euro 3 and eventually to Euro 4 standards. Euro 4 standards, which is the current standard in the whole of EU, have much lesser emissions than even petrol!
It looks like our government, since it owns Petronas, and has a substantial stake in Proton, is only promoting the usage of petrol and petrol cars for and by the general public. Who suffers? The rakyat does. If one has a diesel car, at least whatever he spends now on petrol, he will get nearly double the mileage. To make matters worse, the road tax on diesel cars are much higher, a sign to discourage diesel cars and the usage of diesel by the general public.
Is the government encouraging the rakyat to use more fuel ie petrol?
Is it because if we use diesel, we will be using lesser fuel (for we get more mileage), thus, we will buy lesser fuel, and this in turn will result in lesser revenue for Petronas? And in return, Petronas will pay lesser dividends and company tax to the government?
Petronas, Perodua and Proton, the three P's should start promoting diesel cars and diesel fuel to lessen the burden of the suffering rakyat.
Well, if it is really a fact that the Malaysian government is subsidizing 30 cents of every litre of petrol, then the allegation that they are "encouraging the rakyat to use more petrol" may seems rather contradictory.

This clip has got 58 million views! You may have seen this as it went on its rounds about a year ago.
Please take this on its face value - pure entertainment. Hopefully nobody gets offended. It's a bit long though, close to 11 minutes. I enjoyed it. Hope you like it too.

Feedback is the Breakfast of Champions
Let's have more. "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail". "You should eat to live and not live to eat". "It is not how long you live but how well you live". "The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step". "When your freaking horse dies, then you get down to walk". "Better to have loved and lost then not to have loved at all". "When somebody sodomizes you and cause you pain, it means he loves you dearly". "A man with pants down can't run faster than a woman with skirt up her waist".
All my life, I have been given huge regular doses of these supposedly meaningful quotes. They are supposed to make me successful and wise. Instead they can so often get so boring.
These two people, Sir Winston Churchill and our friend Confucius are the most talkative. These two mothers have so many quotes that students can freely attribute strange quotes to them in their exam papers and no one can be any wiser.
What happened to the simplest "If you smoke, stop". "Should you start your own business, continue and never stop contributing to the Employees' Provident Fund". "Start a comprehensive Insurance Policy and never, never let it lapse". "Never borrow money for personal expenses". "Do not grow fat at any age".
So, coming back to this 'feedback' thing. Will you guys come in with some comments. The chat box or to some, crap box is on the right. Please "Let your horses come". We have sometimes more than 100 hits per day. Though I ain't no champion, some responses will be good. I think I must have been provocative enough, even crass, vulgar and sufficiently insulting. Come on!
