The ISA Nonsense

This is in today's Star Newspaper.

The move to release ISA detainees was also proof that the Government was not repressive, he (Najib) added.

“The Government has the best interest of the people at heart,” he said.

When pointed out that some viewed it as a populist move, Najib said: “If we don’t release them, they will say the Government is repressive. If we release them, they will say we are populist.”

“So which is which?” he told a press conference at his Sri Satria residence yesterday.

Make no mistakes on this. The Internal Security Act is repressive.

Doing away with the ISA will be proof that the Government is not repressive and has the best interest of the people at heart. Releasing 13 detainees and calling it not populist and have the Rakyat at heart is crap. It is much like raping somebody and offering to wear a condom!

So Mr Najib, now "which is which?"

Yeah, Mahathir also offered some crap about this being a good move. He too released 21 detainees when he became Prime Minister.

I am indeed impressed!
