The Cove with Marjorie, Jullie, SK Lim, KC Han, Liew Sip Chon, Lim Eye Thun.

Marjorie Chang left early and so I lost the opportunity to take a picture of her this time.

Jullie Chin, being the nicest person that she is, thought it would be a good idea to meet for lunch amongst some older folks, ex-Canon of course. Well, Liew Sip Chon was invited as well. Did she know something that I don't?

Jullie Chin, being the rich person that she is, can' t be inviting us for lunch in the usual cheaper places that I normally go. You know, Foon Kee, Goon Wah, Yu Ai etc.

Jullie Chin, being the busy married woman that she is with kids, she can't be inviting us for drinks in the evening. For me and Joe Wong, this would be perfect. sigh.

The Cove in The Gardens is actually a very nice place.

This is opposite La Senza. I wondered what La Senza sells. I checked the Net.

There were many many pictures like this. But I think you get the picture.

Where was I?

Oh yes, the lunch. Food was good. Location excellent. Clean. And they have a outside alfresco area for Liew Sip Chon and SK Lim to smoke.

You know Marjorie Chang. I have being talking quite a bit about her lately. She had to leave early.

SK Lim was in the handphone business for quite a long time after leaving Canon. He sold off the whole business a few days ago. I understand that over a period of 1 year, he has been coming and going to Chengdu. He has got something big brewing there. I understand he is also going to start a new family there as well.

Everybody knows Jullie Chin. But you may not know that she is selling her beautiful home. On a later date, I shall post some pictures.

Lim Eye Thun. This one I have not seen for many many years now. She joined us in 1985/1986 to promote our Canon VP2000 Word Processor. The VP2000 has since gone the way of the dinosaurs. Eye Thun left; went to England for 2 years and became a lawyer. She used to be an avid swimmer and squash player. I played quite a bit of squash with this athlete.

Currently, she is just enjoying life and plays badminton regularly in OG Heights, near my home.

We all know KC Han as the Number 1 Will writer in Malaysia. Probably the best looking one too. She told me frequently that she is quite casual in her attire and her looks.

What a liar!

.

.

.

Now, Liew Sip Chon.

Liew has elevated to the position of God, as quite a number of his employees told me. Maybe I should not talk about him, as in this country, religion and God can be sensitive to so many people.

As I do not subscribe to this religion sensitivity nonsense, I shall talk about Liew Sip Chon. However in private, okay?

What a bunch of Idiots!

I've just watched this video by Malaysiakini.

My conclusion: What a bunch of Idiots!

A Hindu temple is supposed to be relocated in a 90% Malay district in Selangor. Some of the residents did not like it.

No issues with that. I would probably not like it if a mosque is relocated in Happy Gardens where I live.

Protest marches, non-vulgar banners, sensible speeches. No issues with that.

But what the fuck is this cow's head thing? What the fuck is this threatening to sacrifice lives to protect your wishes. What the fuck is this blood blood talk? And why the hell do you want to repeatedly stomp on the cow's head.

For goodness sake, the freaking cow is already dead. You mothers were carrying the head. Is that not obvious?

Seriously, what a bunch of Idiots!

It certainly will not look good on your resume if you were the Prime Minister and you can't put a stop to these nonsense.

And yes, watching Astro on plasmas certainly beats LCD's.

Lucky Kartika

When I first read about Kartika's case, I thought she was one of these women above. Silly me!

.
.
..

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
You know, we frequently hear about this "once in a lifetime opportunity". An opportunity to make it big. Being famous maybe, being immensely rich maybe. For me, I guess a once in a lifetime opportunity could mean several hundred lifetimes.
.
Lucky Kartika. She must have garnered quite a bit of good karma points in a previous life.
.
Her time has arrived.
.
Fame has arrived. The absurdities of the actions of various related parties in this country has presented her with this gift. Being talented somewhat in the area of publicity, she has demanded that she be whopped in public. See, publicity, public. See the point? And the fame is worldwide, I suspect. Muniandy in India and Mathew Carl in Scotland could be talking about this over a beer in their respectively parts of the world. For all we know Wong Choon Heng in London could have been explaining to so many people everyday in England that he is not from Malaysia.
.
Fortune? Yea, after 2 months of intensive religious knowledge coaching, civil and syariah legal stuff and some history lessons, she would be ready.
.
The world would be her oyster.
.
Book deals. Appearances in various cities and universities all over the world. Talk shows, (Oprah and DeGeneres, are you listening?). Lectures. A documentary. A movie. Do not make this out to be like the William Hung thing. William Hung was just a 15 minutes of fame moment compared to what Kartika will get.
.
I want to be her friend. Anybody I know knows her?

I Stole some of Joe Wong's photos

.
.
.
So yah, this is Joe Wong.

And he was one of those who attended Steven Wong's retirement party last month on July 28.

He posted some pictures in facebook.

Not all of us are in facebook nor all of us are facebook friends of his. There, I stole the pictures he posted for the benefit of those of us (or you).

If you are above the age of 40, you should be able to recognise all of the people here. If Joe should post some more, I shall steal some more.

Russell Peters - Beating Your Kids

This is not a new one. I apologise if you have seen it before and say "chaay, old one la this".

Russell Dominic Peters is a 39 year old Indian Canadian with his parents and elder brother born in India. I consider this 'oldish' video clip as one of his better acts.

If you have not seen this before, then please, go ahead, enjoy.

Has Michael Learnt How to Rock?

Michael can't possibly rock to save their lives. Any wonder why they have not changed their name?

And so some religious ignoramus said that during this period of Ramadan, they should not be allowed to perform in Genting.

God! Doesn't he know that this is a bunch of sissies from Denmark who can easily put you to sleep?

A couple of years back, it was the rage for anyone who can hum a tune to sing their songs in karaokes. Yah, Paint My Love, 25 Minutes, That's Why, The Actor, Sleeping Child, etc. This is akin to the hundreds of times that people attempt to sing My Way ten years ago. (some still do).

The band attributed its success in Asia to a clean-living image and singing in English as a second language, and the fact that their lyrics are relatively easy to learn and sing (Taipei Times, 06 07 2007).

And yes, I have a new heroine today in Kartika.

Malaysian PM urges beer-drinking model to appeal
By Romen Bose and Beh Lih Yi (AFP) – 5 hours ago

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Tuesday urged a Muslim model who faces being caned for drinking beer to appeal the sentence and not be "so willing" to accept her fate.
.
Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, 32, won a surprise reprieve Monday when religious officials who took her into custody ahead of the caning abruptly released her and delayed the punishment until after the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

She was sentenced by a religious court last month to six strokes. If the punishment is carried out she would be the first woman to face caning under Islamic law in Malaysia, a moderate Muslim-majority country.
.
The mother-of-two has stared down religious authorities by saying she is ready to be caned, refusing to appeal against her sentence, and challenging them to cane her in public.

But Najib said that while he would not interfere with the Sharia courts, which operate alongside the civil court system in Malaysia, there were still avenues for Kartika to appeal.
"I believe the authorities concerned are sensitive on this matter and realise the implications of this case," he told a press conference.
.
"I feel the person concerned should appeal to the state authorities and not be so willing to accept the punishment," he said.

Human rights group Amnesty International has urged Malaysia to abolish the "cruel and degrading punishment" and critics have said the case threatens to damage Malaysia's international standing
.
.
See? And I quote: "The mother-of-two has stared down religious authorities by saying she is ready to be caned, refusing to appeal against her sentence, and challenging them to cane her in public."
.
So you have this Muslim woman drinking 3 beers with her friends. Some religious people from some religious organisation nabbed her and charged her and made her pay a fine of RM5000.00 and then want to cane her.
.
For the life of me, I cannot think of anything more silly.
.
Najib asked her to appeal. So the silly stuff continues.
.
You have a large group of people in this country who are born to belong to a religion with almost no hope of a personal choice. And you subject them to additional rules and regulations besides the national laws and punish them for actions which are sensibly accepted by a great number of people all over the world. Maybe slavery would not be the right word to use here. And so the silly stuff continues.

Buy Plasma TV instead of LCD?

One of my resellers in Puchong Jaya held a mini weekend sale in conjunction with an electrical retail outlet besides his computer shop over the last 2 days.

My company arranged for a number of Canon facsimile and multi-function machines to be on display hopeful of some sell through's.

I was there on Saturday and was looking at some flat TV panels on display. And I noticed that the plasmas performed rather badly out in the open in view of its reflective mirror like panels. Got me thinking. If I want to buy a flat panel TV today, should I opt for the plasmas or the LCDs?
.
As I am rather lazy today to do much research, I shall try to list out what I know and you tell me if they are wrong or they have changed.
.
Plasmas give you brighter pictures, blacker blacks, wider viewing angles and is cheaper to purchase. Also, plasmas refresh quicker and more suitable for fast action movies and games.

However, plasmas tend to present colors that are gaudy (watch CSI: Miami), consume more electricity (can be 2-3 times more), may have burnt-ins images, a shorter product life with brightness deterioration, and reflective panels when the environment is bright or if you have windows facing the TV.
.
I understand that technology on plasmas have evolved and the downside may not be as pronounced as before. LCDs could also have improved considerably.

Hey guys, which one should I select?

What about this new flat panel product Canon was supposed to launch like 2-4 years ago?
.
.
Watch a movie recently with Mila Kunis in it. Some pictures for you?
.
Yes, she does look Bollywood.

The Chinese, Their Houses Have No Windows

Jeremy Cheong went over to Marjorie's place recently and he told me that Marjorie has two extremely good looking daughters. And Jeremy Cheong seldom lies. (Marjorie, can we have some pictures?)

By the way, Marjorie Chang Jenkins passed on to me the following article which I think originate late 2007. I dug a bit further and found that it was first posted in this blog.

http://www.fiona.my/2007/12/chinese-their-houses-have-no-windows.html

Fiona mentioned that she discovered the article posted by a group on facebook. She wanted to pass it on and likewise, me too.

THE CHINESE, THEIR HOUSES HAVE NO WINDOWS
chinese, chinese malaysian, malaysia, malaysian chinese
via The Evil Mischievious Kitten
:

I looked out the window.
And I saw

Thousands and thousands of Malays in the Bersih Rally. They were fighting their own kind for a cause they believed in. And they risk being ostracized by their Muslim brothers. And they risk much.

I looked out the window.
And I saw

Thousands and thousands of Indians holding the picture of Gandhi in the streets. All were teargassed and many beaten with batons. At Batu Caves, they were locked in, pumped with tear gas and sprayed with chemical water. 80 are awaiting trial. 31 are charged for attempted murder of a policeman that attacked them. All their leaders are under ISA. The one that got away fled the country.

I looked out the window.
And I saw

Thousands and thousands of Chinese closing their doors. Minding their own business. Watching the soap operas. Playing mahjong. Going to the gym. Planning for holidays. Eating bah kuet teh. Enrolling their children in private schools. Going for line dancing. Changing to a bigger car. Perming their hair brown. Going to the movies. Shopping.

The Chinese. They don’t look out the window.
Their houses.
Have no windows.

It is because of 3 generations of 'keeping quiet' that we are in a political quagmire of sorts today.

My story may not be the same for others, but it is no doubt a story of 3 generations of political oblivion -a saga of unremitting circumstances that has 'trained' us to look the other way - to economic wealth, education and religion. Politics because a 'dirty word' in our home; as a Chinese we should disengage ourselves completely from this 'unproductive' activity.

This is my story.

My grandfather took a ship to join the gold rush in San Francisco around the turn of the last century. Halfway on a Chinese junk, he got sea-sick, so he jumped ship at Singapore. Traveling up the hinterland, he focused on survival. Hungry from famine in Southern China, he vowed never to be hungry again. Politics was the last thing on his mind. Keeping his belly filled was his only priority. It was an obsession that dictated everything he did.

My father worked for the British. One day, forced by the Japanese to do 'national service', he was selected to look after food supplies. The family was starving during the war, so he stole rice under his care and hid them in sweet potatoes when he cooked rice. Our neighbors always thought we were eating sweet potatoes we grew on the fringes of the jungle, when in actual fact, we always had rice.

My grandmother sews clothes for the women day and night to survive and got paid in Japanese currency. When the war was over, these Japanese notes - which were unnumbered - became valueless. The family again struggled to bring food on the table. It was a litany of hunger and fear in our house.

When it came to my generation, my father thought education was the passport to economic freedom for us. He refused for us to be a contractor like him and forced us to study. In university, he forbade me to get involved in politics. He went as far as to refuse for me to study law so that I would not get involved in politics. I was forced to study a course I did not like because he wanted me to be a banker.

Needless to say, I made the same mistake when it came to my children. I told them also the 'passport to heaven' was also to study. But I refused to dictate what they should study but instead asked them to study what they liked. I ensured they got the best education. I also reminded everyone that they do not talk about politics on the dinner table.

My story is not uncommon; such is the struggle and saga common to thousands of Malaysian homes. We are cajoled by our parents to look at bread-and butter issues. We are told that politics are not for us. We are told that our 'houses have no windows', so mind your own business and close the door. We are told that if this country is not good enough, you must get a good education and emigrate.

The Chinese? We are told this is not our home. We have no home. We are the Jews of the East. When trouble starts, we ought to look the other way. If it gets worse, we emigrate. Money talks. So long we have money, some country will take us.

100 years of ignorance. Is it blissful? No. It is tragic .

Duplicity

It has to be Julia Roberts. She made me buy a copy of the movie Duplicity to watch. Nobody I know has such a full blown dazzling smile.

Also, it has been such a long time since I watch this pretty woman. She is 42 years old this year. she does look older in this movie Duplicity, but she is still so attractive.

Roberts had become one of the highest-paid actresses in the world, topping the Hollywood Reporter's annual "power list" of top-earning female stars from 2002 to 2005, until 2006, when Nicole Kidman won the top spot. Her fee for 1990's Pretty Woman was $300,000; in 2003, she was paid an unprecedented $25 million for her role in Mona Lisa Smile. As of 2007, Roberts's net worth was estimated to be $140 million.
.
My favorite Julia Roberts movie is My Best Friend's Wedding.

Duplicity is a rather fun movie to watch. Julia Roberts is a rather fun actress to watch. It is not a fantastic movie but quite alright. Another one of those movies that I did in one sitting.
.
I quite like Clive Owens in The Inside Man. Here he looked a bit older and lost some weight I think. His face seemed a little dented. I agree with the following review that George Clooney would be a better choice. Largely infuenced by the Ocean's series, I reckon. You may see the similarlities on multi scene cinematography on this movie and the Ocean's series.
.
The problem with this movie is when they bring you back in time frequently. I didn't like that. Pretty confusing a couple of times.

A German's View on Islam: It's the Fanatics, Who Rule

This one has had come my way a couple of times before. As you can see, it started in late 2007.

Reading it again this time round, I can clearly see and tend to agree with the writer's point of view. I thought I share this with you.

A German's View on Islam: It's the Fanatics, Who Rule
by Celestial Junk
12 Nov, 2007

.
I used to know a man whose family were German aristocracy prior to World War Two. They owned a number of large industries and estates. I asked him how many German people were true Nazis, and the answer he gave has stuck with me and guided my attitude toward fanaticism ever since.
.
"Very few people were true Nazis," he said, "but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, we had lost control and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."
.
We are told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.
.
It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide.
It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor killers. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful majority", the "silent majority", is cowed and extraneous.
.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China 's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
.
The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery? Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace loving"?
.
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because, like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them and the end of their world will have begun.
.
Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghanis, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
.
As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
.
This originally under the title,
Why the Peaceful Majority is Irrelevant.

Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia - Haris Ibrahim

Haris Ibrahim has been tirelessly and relentlessly promoting the "Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia" concept.

His One People One Nation work gave one hope that one day, we can all be equal under the eyes of the law. One can dream, no?

I proposed you become a regular/frequent visitor to his blog The People's Parliament, if you are not already one.

If you have the time, you may want to read The People's Declaration on this link.
.
.
This declaration is a bit long. I must admit that after half way, I started to increase my reading speed and may not have understood the balance.
.
Actually, I couldn't find out who was really responsible for the drafting of the declaration. I have no doubt though that Haris Ibrahim and Raja Petra would be active participants.

George Carlin - Saving the Planet

On the 12th last month, I posted here the late George Carlin on his "Religion is Bullshit" gig. It was quite a revelation for me. I hope you were entertained.

"The planet is fine, the people are fucked"

"The earth does not share our prejudice towards plastic".

I hope you enjoy him as much as I do.

Lester William Polsfuss

.
.
.
..
.
.
.
.
.
Two days ago, the great Les Paul died.

Lester William Polsfuss, known as Les Paul (June 9, 1915 – August 13, 2009) was a musician and inventor. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar, which "made the sound of rock and roll possible." He is credited with many recording innovations, including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound, delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording.

His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many of the guitarists of the present day. He and his wife Mary Ford had many hit records in the 1950s.

Les Paul is well known for his collaboration with Gibson to form the Gibson Les Paul, one of the most famous solid-body guitars in the world. It has been used by many guitar legends including Slash, Billy Gibbons, Jimmy Page, Randy Rhoads, Pete Townshend, and Rick Hallenback.

So, the Gibson Les Paul is one of the most famous solid-body guitars in the world. The other equally famous solid-body electric guitar would be the Fender Stratocaster.

.
.
The Fender Stratocaster, often referred to as the Strat, is a model of electric guitar designed by Leo Fender, George Fullerton and Freddie Tavares in 1954, and manufactured continuously to the present. It is a double-cutaway guitar, with an extended top horn for balance while standing. The Stratocaster has been used by many leading guitarists, and thus can be heard on many historic recordings. Along with the Gibson Les Paul, Gibson SG, and the Fender Telecaster, it is one of the most common and enduring models of electric guitar in the world. The design of the Stratocaster has transcended the field of music to rank among the classic industrial designs of all time; examples have been exhibited at major museums around the world.

Users of this model include David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and Robert Cray.

A dead giveaway in differentiating Gibson and Fender guitars would be the headstock, (the head above the neck). Fenders have all six tuners on one side while the Gibsons have 3 tuners on each side.
.
Here you have Joan Jett on a Gibson.

Chew Tuck Hing - Lunch Pudu FH

I forgot to take a picture of Chew Tuck Hing for the benefit of those who do not know this one. Or a current photo of how he looks like for those who know him.

Originally Richard Yeow and him and I were supposed to meet for lunch in Goon Wah Kuchai Lama. We had a major communication breakdown and the event did not materialize.

So Chew Tuck Hing and I had lunch in Pudu. I think the place is called Foon Kee. Actually I have been coming to this place for the last 30 years. I love their mun yue tao. I've mentioned this place I think more than once in earlier posts.

This place is run by a few sisters. And they have strict house rules, one of them being that you have to wait to be seated. See, the strange thing is that this place looks like a rundown dilapidated shop lot, not your regular fancy restaurant.

Allow me to tell you a story. A month or so ago, I was in this place. One gentlemen came in from the back and sat himself down at one of the tables whilst others were obediently waiting outside. So one of the sisters asked him what was he doing. He said "sek fan lor" which means eat lunch lor. Naturally the woman was pretty pissed. She consulted with another sister who promptly approached him and said that he would have to wait about one and a half hour for the food to come. She said there was a restaurant down the road where the food was pretty good and she suggested that he went there. He left.

This happened just next to my table. After 30 years, I am still terrified of these women.

Chew Tuck Hing epitomises Canon analog Cameras in Malaysia. Everybody in the camera trade knew him. Those days, when you talk about Canon Cameras, you talk about Chew Tuck Hing.

Some may have you believed that Chew Tuck Hing was instrumental in bringing about the Number One position for Canon Camera in Malaysia then.

Chew left Canon Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd to join Goh Kheng Peow years ago in Jebsen and Jessen to do Pentax, I think. Later he joined Goh Kheng Peow again in Compugates. Today, he is retired. Some people can be so lucky. However he told me, he would like to work again. I guess he miss the excitement.

Those days, they call him fei lo chew. However now, he has lost some weight and still look pretty healthy and strong. And still pretty talkative. He has an extremely strong command of spoken Cantonese and I used to consult him frequently on this area when we were together in Canon.

This lunch event happened after when I met him back again in Steven Wong's retirement party recently.

Obsessed

All's Fair When Love is War

What a corny tagline.

Watched this movie lately. Watched it with Jeradyne. She said "This movie gives hope to plain looking people who work in an office". You see, the story is about this very attractive girl who hit on and stalk this happily married office executive vice president or something. The guy's wife was played by Beyonce Knowles.

And I say this crazy woman is attractive.

She is Ali Larter. You may remember her as one of the Heroes. She too played a crazy woman in Heroes.

The movie is nothing special. Except it promises sex at every turn for the early greater part of the movie. Yah, what do you expect! Beyonce Knowles looked good in this movie too.

Ali Larter has such sexy and sensuous lips. She knows it too. Almost all pictures of her showed her lips being slightly parted as if ready for something.

.
.
Let me give you a few more photos of her not from this movie.

I did not know Ali Larter acted in this 2007 caveman comedy Homo Erectus as well. This clip is pretty funny.

Charlene Riva, Myla Rose and Mark Lester

You think these twins will be as successful as Serena and Venus Williams?

Maybe more so, genetically, they are there. You know the wife, Mirka was a competitive WTP player, don't you?

And who is Mark Lester?

He could be the father of Paris Michael Katherine Jackson. He said he was a close friend of Michael Jackson and at one time he offered some of his sperm and Michael accepted. At that time, Michael Jackson was married to Debbie Rowe. And Debbie Rowe became the mother of Paris, so ....

Mark Lester was a child actor and he was so cute in the movie Oliver. I watched his other movie too, Melody. And I sing this karaoke Bee Gees' song Melody Fair too, at times.

I was maybe 16 then. And God, life was beautiful then.

My God, In Beer We Fear

My God, In Beer We Fear
You Can't Get Them Anywhere

It is not very often that I see a beer commercial.

Alcohol and cigarette commercials are not allowed in this country on TVs and Cinemas. And I seldom visit the cinemas.

Cinemas goers will be familiar with this Heineken commercial. Yes, I think it is very good.

The liquor and cigarette boys are superbly creative in the marketing of their products. The more you squeeze them, the more creative juices ooze out. You must see the stuff that the sexy girls bring around from the cigarette companies. These girls make daily evening rounds to the pubs.

However, I can't seemed to find really good beer commercials shown in other countries. Possibly it is a cultural thing. I was searching YouTube, just so you know.

You have ads where men are banned from the the beer making factories, and sexy, sweaty women take their places. You have a huge truck that opens up into a bar. You have a woman who can open a bottle cap with her navel. You have a drinking Australian who sees a plain woman looking sexier and sexier with every gulp. etc. etc.

Certainly not as unique as the one above.

Through the Years

Through the Years is not my favourite Kenny Roger's song. The Gambler is.

Last evening I attempted this song in a karaoke bar. It didn't turn out quite right. I'll try again.

If you disagree with me on everything, you'll have to agree that Kenny Rogers has one of the best voices of all time.

Listen to some of his songs again. This one, The Gambler, Coward of the Country, Lucille et al. He has almost no bad songs save You Decorated My Life, which I thought was truly boring. His collaborations with Sheena Easton and bosomy Dolly Parton were huge successes at one time.

This 70 year old son of a carpenter is such a great song story teller.

Another person with an awesome voice would be Sean Connery. Women will understand.

I was looking to see what I can find on Sean Connery and I came across this James Bond Special. I think you'll enjoy watching it.

Pardon my Pessimism

I am feeling a little depressed this evening so please pardon my pessimism.

Events especially of late give me a sense of frustration, despair and hopelessness.

I have decided earlier that I would not emigrate, but you may want to ask me again.

So now, you cannot buy beer in a Muslim majority area? Fuck me dead!

I see 3 things that are fundamentally wrong.

1. Things written in the Constitution. Airheads are constantly telling me that this or that is enshrined in the Constitution. Malay supremacy for one. Is this doing any good economically to the common Malay. You tell me. After 50 fucking years, is it working? This stupid thing can only retard the whole country and everybody suffers. Well, the 5,000 people in position shall continue to build bigger mansions.

Let's just change parts of the Constitution? Is it supposed to last 10,000 years without amendments.

How the fuck can it be wrong if all citizens in all countries enjoy equal rights!

2. Religion. All Malays are Muslim. Born such and near impossible to convert out. You marry a Muslim, you cannot not be a Muslim. Why are they so scared? If Islam is a great religion, people would want to embrace the faith. Why the force and restrictions? Maybe Islam is a great religion. People elsewhere embrace the faith voluntarily. Here, being a Malay is being a Muslim. You do not embrace Islam. It embrace you.

3. I am too upset to remember what is this 3rd thing. I think it has something to do with race. The Chinese Malaysians and the Indian Malaysians.

I am pretty tired now and I want to go to sleep.

Still, frustrated and filled with despair and hopelessness.

What a country we inherited.

Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia

I've not been to this person's site before. I was alerted by a former schoolmate from a common interest loop. I thought I want to share this with you.

One August Saturday

FIVE hundred and eighty-nine civilians arrested. Dozens of canisters of tear gas popped and spewed into the various parts of KL's historic core. Truckloads of water jets sprayed onto the people who came from near and far. Bruised bodies as citizens were hauled into waiting Black marias. Here in Kuala Lumpur, August 1, 2009 seemed like a war zone, a national riot of epic proportions.

And here's the reaction: Not a single car was left burning; no flower pot broken. Just one emphatic message to the country's leaders - No to ISA

Watchmen

Just watched Watchmen.

I don't get this picture.

I know it has got quite a few great reviews. But I don't like it at all. It has a bunch of supposedly superheroes. Actually there was only one who has superpowers, Dr Manhatten. Well, he can go to Mars and stay there indefinitely. The rest were just fierce kungfu fighting men, who can take heavy physical punishments and don't die.

The story was about these fellows who were around in the 80's in USA and were significant to the country then and offer an alternative history to the current one. In this story, the Americans won the Vietnam War. One of them also managed to avert a nuclear war, although millions were killed to save billions.

Individual characters of these fellows were explored to put in the human emotional factor into them. Malin Ackerman who played Laurie Jupitor had a hot sex scene with Patrick Wilson as Dan.

Yah, like I mentioned earlier, this is not my cup of tea. I can't relate. I can't root for anybody here. I can't say anybody were really hot looking or sexy. The fight sequences were not really original. The story was not unique.

However, the computer generated graphics were awesome though. Good to hear this song again in the movie; "The Times They Are a-Changin'" by Bob Dylan
