Has Michael Learnt How to Rock?

Michael can't possibly rock to save their lives. Any wonder why they have not changed their name?

And so some religious ignoramus said that during this period of Ramadan, they should not be allowed to perform in Genting.

God! Doesn't he know that this is a bunch of sissies from Denmark who can easily put you to sleep?

A couple of years back, it was the rage for anyone who can hum a tune to sing their songs in karaokes. Yah, Paint My Love, 25 Minutes, That's Why, The Actor, Sleeping Child, etc. This is akin to the hundreds of times that people attempt to sing My Way ten years ago. (some still do).

The band attributed its success in Asia to a clean-living image and singing in English as a second language, and the fact that their lyrics are relatively easy to learn and sing (Taipei Times, 06 07 2007).

And yes, I have a new heroine today in Kartika.

Malaysian PM urges beer-drinking model to appeal
By Romen Bose and Beh Lih Yi (AFP) – 5 hours ago

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Tuesday urged a Muslim model who faces being caned for drinking beer to appeal the sentence and not be "so willing" to accept her fate.
.
Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, 32, won a surprise reprieve Monday when religious officials who took her into custody ahead of the caning abruptly released her and delayed the punishment until after the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

She was sentenced by a religious court last month to six strokes. If the punishment is carried out she would be the first woman to face caning under Islamic law in Malaysia, a moderate Muslim-majority country.
.
The mother-of-two has stared down religious authorities by saying she is ready to be caned, refusing to appeal against her sentence, and challenging them to cane her in public.

But Najib said that while he would not interfere with the Sharia courts, which operate alongside the civil court system in Malaysia, there were still avenues for Kartika to appeal.
"I believe the authorities concerned are sensitive on this matter and realise the implications of this case," he told a press conference.
.
"I feel the person concerned should appeal to the state authorities and not be so willing to accept the punishment," he said.

Human rights group Amnesty International has urged Malaysia to abolish the "cruel and degrading punishment" and critics have said the case threatens to damage Malaysia's international standing

See? And I quote: "The mother-of-two has stared down religious authorities by saying she is ready to be caned, refusing to appeal against her sentence, and challenging them to cane her in public."
.
So you have this Muslim woman drinking 3 beers with her friends. Some religious people from some religious organisation nabbed her and charged her and made her pay a fine of RM5000.00 and then want to cane her.
.
For the life of me, I cannot think of anything more silly.
.
Najib asked her to appeal. So the silly stuff continues.
.
You have a large group of people in this country who are born to belong to a religion with almost no hope of a personal choice. And you subject them to additional rules and regulations besides the national laws and punish them for actions which are sensibly accepted by a great number of people all over the world. Maybe slavery would not be the right word to use here. And so the silly stuff continues.
