Buy a Benz E200 to "Cut Costs"

In today's papers; as part of another article on the suspension of a Proton service dealer:

Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said had earlier said that the state had purchased 14 Mercedes E200 Kompressor cars at RM3.43mil to replace its Proton Perdana V6 Executive fleet in a move to "cut cost."

Wow, I think this has to be the strongest advertisement for Mercedes Benz in this country. Now that we are aware, we should start taking a last look at our cars and head for the Mercedes showrooms. Better hurry, stocks of the Kompressor could be limited. The Terengganu state government did 2 years of evaluative studies secretly to enable them to have a headstart.

I am pretty unhappy with Larry Poon, Christie Low, Patrick Yee, Steven Wong, Richard Yeow, Jack Lim, Shereen Phua, Jullie Chin, Billy Ea, James Tan, Rick Low etc; all driving Mercedes and not letting the rest of us know about these "cost cuttings". I shall show them a finger or two, the next time I see them. One finger for me and another for the rest of all CanonMalaysians who drive non Mercedes Benz. (Tell us, mah)

Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said can't be very smart. Understatement? One has to be rather dumb to think that everybody else is dumb.

I came across the following article in Rocky's Bru blog, a report by Bernama.

MACHANG, July 26 (Bernama) -- PAS Spiritual Leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat Saturday proposed the dissolution of both PAS and Umno and the setting up of a new Islam-based political party to unite the Malays and enable Islam to be the protective umbrella for all the people, including non-Muslims.

He said Islam fulfilled the objectives of all endeavours, including political struggle, and should form the basis of political parties seeking to uphold the true political struggle.

"Umno should dissolve, PAS should also dissolve. Set up another party on condition that it is based on Islam," he told reporters after opening the 37th "Muktamar" (meeting) of Kelantan PAS "Dewan Ulama" (Assembly of Muslim Scholars), here.

Nik Abdul Aziz, who is the Kelantan menteri besar, said there was no reason for Umno to reject the Islamic policies proposed by PAS because Islam stood for all the communities, including the non-Malays, in the country.

"Islam is for all the communities, not just the Malays ... the Chinese, Indians and Orang Putih (westerners) ... they have to be united under the umbrella of Islam," he said.

Islam would thus be able to regain strength in the country while forging closer links among the communities, including non-Muslims, he said.-- BERNAMA

Nik Abdul Aziz, another one of those people who can't be very clever. Then again, to be fair to him, he wasn't as much talking to us as to the people in UMNO. Hmmm ...
