Malaysian analyst acquitted over sensational murder

On MSN News. Some parts.

A high-profile political analyst was Friday cleared of involvement in the murder of a Mongolian woman, in a case linked to top government figures that has gripped Malaysia.

Abdul Razak Baginda, a close associate of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak, was accused of abetting the 2006 slaying of his former lover Altantuya Shaariibuu, whose body was blown up with explosives in a jungle clearing.

"I find there is no prima facie case for him to answer his charge. He is therefore acquitted and discharged," said Judge Mohamad Zaki Mohamad Yasin.

However, the court ordered the two policemen -- from an elite unit which guards the prime minister and deputy prime minister -- to enter their defence. The case will be heard from November 10.

Altantuya's father Setev Shaariibuu was distraught over the decision, in a case that has been seen as a test of the strength of Malaysia's much-criticised judiciary.

I am not satisfied. My daughter knows only one Malaysian and it is Razak Baginda. Now my daughter is dead and Baginda is freed... the country has lost credibility in the world," he told reporters.

From wikipedia.

Prima facie is a Latin expression meaning "on its first appearance", or "by first instance". It is used in modern legal English to signify that on first examination, a matter appears to be self-evident from the facts. In common law jurisdictions, prima facie denotes evidence that (unless rebutted) would be sufficient to prove a particular proposition or fact.

It is indeed rather interesting to see what would turn out from here.

A Mongolian woman was blown to bits, that's a fact. The boyfriend Razak Baginda is acquited upon a no prima facie case. Two policemen will be asked to enter their defence on the 10th November 2008.

No other suspects currently?

Two policemen from an elite unit which guards the prime minister and deputy prime minister acting on their own blew up Razak Baginda's girlfriend?

It is indeed rather interesting to see what would turn out from here.

Article 153 and the “Social Contract"

Posted yesterday in Malaysia Today was subject article written by Raja Petra.

I reproduced here a couple of paragraphs. Read the whole post here.

In short, if I am not a party to that contract can I be bound by it? The contract was entered into by the Malays and the then immigrant Indians and Chinese; of course it is not really a written contract as much as a verbal contract and we all know that a verbal contract is not worth the paper it is written on.

Nevertheless, should Malaysian-born Indians and Chinese who have never even visited India and China be made to abide to a verbal “contract” made by their immigrant parents and/or grandparents? How long will this “contract” run? Will Indians and Chinese 1000 years from now still be made to abide to a “contract” made in 1957?

There should be a cut-off date. There must come a point of time when all Malaysians are regarded as equal. How can an Indonesian who migrated to this country a few years ago be regarded as Bumiputra when Chinese and Indians who come to this country in the 1400s are still second class citizens?

Yes, Article 153 accords Malays certain rights and privileges. But that same Article, and Article 8, do not allow imposing of quotas and permits which deny Indians and Chinese their rights in favour of the Malays. This, many people do not seem to understand.

My sentiments exactly. I keep hearing that the so called 'social contract' should not be challenged and certain rights should not to be questioned.

If societal restructuring need be done by affirmative actions (NEP) and a period of time is needed. Then there should be a time frame for the programs to run. We have now 51 years of the so called 'social contract' and 39 years of affirmative actions.

If the programs failed as is evident today, then perhaps it is time to relook at the programs. Perhaps desired societal restructuring failed not so much as in spite of the programs but because of the programs.

The lack of competition and by extension the lack of motivation may forever never bring up the economical status of the Malays.

I say, do the Malays a favor. Do away with the NEP. This long 39 years must clearly show its ineffectiveness. Malaysia obviously has a need to compete with the rest of the 192 countries in the world.

Recarts - Alan & Alan & Alan

Had lunch with Alan and Alan a few days ago.

Yes, I know. I almost never have lunch alone.

Actually it was Alan and Alan and a few other people.

We went to this boneless 'san yue' place in Seri Kembangan. We had the steamed version as well as the fried version. Then we too had the trotters and the ginger frogs and the black bean sauce kangkong. (Wish you were here as much as you wish you were there). We too, I think had the homemade beancurd. I noticed that every restaurant you go, they tend to tell you that their bean curd is homemade.

Recarts was not established last week. It has been around, I tell you. There are 3 Alans there today and like most companies with 3 Alans, the head honcho numero uno would usually be Alan 1.

I have never met one Alan 1 as shy as this one though.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

See what I mean.

The food was awesome.

In case you are not aware Alan 1 is one MotherTrucker. A few years ago, he led an expedition (convoy of 4WDs) to Inner Mongolia. If you visit him in his office in Sunway Damansara, I promise you, he will take out his trip album to wow you. When he was there Altantuya was still alive then.

Pearly went Green

Another photo was dropped into http://www.drop.io/canonmalaysians.

The guilty party could be Siew Ho, Frances, Pearly or Ooi Chik Hoe.

I suspect it was Pearly Chew.

MPH Warehouse Sale - A Revelation

Today, after my lunch of Pudu yong tau foo, I went over with Jeradyne to Jalan Bersatu Petaling Jaya as a busybody to the MPH warehouse sale.

Men, women, boys, girls, fat people, thin people, tall ones, short ones, malay malaysians, chinese malaysians, indian malaysians, .. and lots of other normal looking people.

There were 1000 people there, I swear.

And I thought with the internet, computer games, cybercafes, wikipedia, online books, text messagings, instant messagings, mobile novels, facebook, my blog and another one million other distractions, people don't read books.

Boy, was I wrong! What a revelation. They have set up some 12 counters to take away your cash or debit your charge cards. People buy books using supermarket baskets. As I watched, hundreds of books were bought and whisked away; and I wasn't watching all the time.
.
They opened up their warehouse there and it is not smaller than the one Canon has in Glenmarie.

Actually, a large portion of the buyers were young preteens and teenagers. Quite a bit of the older folks were there to chaperon and pay for the damages incurred.
.
I mentioned in an earlier post that I thought the young ones today speak and write pretty good English as evident by me reading some of their blogs. I wonder no more.

Then I bumped into Lee Tet Lin. Who?
.
A CanonMalaysian who was in the service department during the Stone Age. I think in Canon nowadays, you have a fancy name like market engineering or something. He was attending a church service opposite, I think. (Glad Tidings?). He is currently staying in Kayu Ara, Chua Hock Keat's turf.
.
How does he look like OR How does he look like now? I did not forget to take a snapshot.
.

.

.
.
.

I asked him for one of his business cards.

Patricia Lee - some photos

I spoke to Patricia Lee on the phone yesterday and I said. "Hey, can I steal some of the photos you have on Facebook and load them on www.photobucket.com/canonmalaysians."

She said "yah".

The few shots here represent pictures of her wedding, wedding dinner and her honeymoon trip to Japan where her baby was conceived. Remember on an earlier post, I mentioned this couple worked very hard there for this baby. Congratulations on their success.

Her friends on Facebook would have seen these already. For the others, doesn't she look good?

Handsome, Who are You?

This photo was dropped into www.drop.io/canonmalaysians

There was no credit.

He is handsome, must be a ex-Canon, probably well to do, vacationing in the Swiss Alps and .......... want people to guess.Yah, and he is obviously a man.

Sorry, made a mistake. The Swiss Alps won't have those large hotel like buildings. Dubai? They can do anything in Dubai. Simulating any conditions in any part of the world is not a problem.

Wait! I can't see his feet. Maybe this is superimposed on. He could have taken a picture of himself in his bedroom in Cheras.

Okay, so who the f*** is this guy. Can anybody help me out here?

Frances Yip has some photos

I looked at some of Frances Yip's photos and they kind of reminded me when I was young once upon a time.

(sigh). What's really sad is that then, I thought I had lots of time and did not really get to party. Sure wish I could go back and do the right things.

Is it too late now to ask Mr Jeffrey Koh to help mua get an Open Water Scuba Diver Licence?

November 04, 2008

Just a little while longer and we should be able to see a brand new United States President.

November 04 will be Election Date for the US Presidency.

It is almost certain that Obama will win with his increasing popularity among the electorate. And he would be the first African American to become the President.

You would have seen the parody on Sarah Palin by Tina Fey last Saturday on Saturday Night Live when Tiny Fey met the real McCoy then.

This here clip is an earlier one where Tina Fey did a parody of Palin when Sarah Palin goofed up the answer to a question relating to the recent governmental bail out.

Wonderful to be noticed, acknowledged, and be invited to join in the celebration.

My apologies. I wasn't keeping track on this event and I came to know only this morning when I opened my mails. I know you posted the comment on Saturday 9.36 am. So sorry.

Such enthusiasm you have (The?). You must be part of the organisers. I hope you and all the others had a wonderful time. You guys planted all 2500 trees in Padang Kota Damansara?. Mmmm. I think I should go to have a look one day.

This here is Jade. She is from Penang and I do not know her.

So, after when I wrote what I wrote above, I went around the web a little, looking for some pictures of CanonGoesGreen and I found that she has got the exact same message from The as me. Pretty active this The.

I think young and pretty Jade has an interesting blog. You will find the relevant post I mentioned here.

And quite some photos from Alice Teh who went there yesterday morning. Read here.

The Facebook Story

I've just joined into the Facebook community. Well, the story begins like this ..

"What! another story? First, the series of Canon fotobook stories, and now the facebook story. What more f stories have you got?!"

We were having a yam cha session last week. My colleague Bee Geok, Copynet's James Tan and Wang and Patricia Lee who recently resigned from Canon Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd.

Among the many things and people that we talked about, one of the things relate to facebook. I mentioned that one of the comments on my chatbox here on this blog said that there was a ex-canon people group on facebook. I said I tried looking and couldn't find any.

Actually I have a facebook account that I hardly use. Imagine writing on my wall, writing on your wall, sending and receiving virtual kisses and gifts, giving you a booty slap, what is everybody doing now .. etc .. Lord Buddha, I can't cope with all that.

But an ex-canon people group in facebook?. I can't resist going looking for this.

Patricia Lee, the young one, remembered what I said and having found no success in locating this elusive group as well, promptly form one. She informed me the next day by text message and walla, today I am a proud member of this community.

The name of this group in facebook created by Patricia Lee is called 'canon malaysia'. Currently there are only 5 people. The others being:

I shall try to convince Patricia to use my list of email addresses on this blog under Registry-CanonMalaysians to send out invitations. I hope she agrees.

Canon Fotobook Launch - Final Part

After so many days already
This report should now have a final say
I hope this series were not boring to all
If so, then accept my apologies woh

We had much more people at the dinner
Then we had at lunch, let me tell ya
I guess better food sure draws more people
Or maybe it was Joanne's mention of the anaconda

After the dinner, a lot still hung around
Although no more beer for another round
I was chatting up Mega Copier Steven
Hoping an invitation to Raub will be given

Three weeks from now the durians will fall
He said it will be enough for all
We can even go wild boar hunting
Eaten with curry, that will be something

We caught Francis Kim's attention
He then join us in conversation
He too invited me to go to Ipoh
To drink in pubs with pretty ja bors

I heard he freshly obtained a large order
Complete system of a million and more
Sold to the largest bridal company in Ipoh
They attended this launch and had a ball

A bit tired although it wasn't too late
Went home and straight to bed
Once again, I hope this is not too boring
If so, then let me do some apologising

Anyway, I revisited http://www.canonfoto.com.my/. They should be ready with all information by November 3, 2008. That's beginning next month.

Malaysia guarantees bank deposits

In my yesterday's post, I mentioned that all deposits are only being guaranteed by the Malaysian Government via our Bank Negara for up to RM60,000.00 per account.

However, I read the papers this morning and there you have this ..

Malaysia guarantees bank deposits until December 2010

Malaysia has issued a guarantee for all bank deposits until December 2010, following the lead of several other nations in a measure to maintain the stability of its financial system.

So, good news everybody. Your millions will be safe until at least December 2010. As also mentioned earlier, recessions usually do not last for years. So get ready some money to get into the market and make a killing. 2 or 3 months from now could be the right time. Unless you have some millions to begin with, it is not likely that you can make the amount that Goh Kheng Peow and Tan Ngiap Soon made or is making.

I am not sure about Rick Low. Lately, I heard he is looking into buying a few million ringgit warehouse for his goods, (a large portion Canon).

Also, James Tan Beyen bought an Alphard and said his last journey to Penang with the family was 'huyoh'.

Patricia Lee ex-Canon bought an Estima and said she needs the space for big time goods delivery. By the way, Patricia has completely got back her figure now after the first daughter recently. I've looked a few times. I can confirm this.

(sigh). When I grow up, I want to be like all my friends. Rich, Big Cars and can get back the former figure.

Monkey Business

Some say the world is going into a Recession.

Some say the market always recover. Historically, the longest was the Great Depression beginning in I think 1929 and lasted for some (40 months?).

Some say the best time to go in and buy blue chips should be about 3 months before the beginning of a recovery and the time may be in the not too distant future, possibly in the next couple of months even. Quite a few recessions lasted only a few months. Note that it is virtually impossible to predict when the market will bottom out.

Others say that since every bank account that we have is guaranteed only RM60,000.00, we should take our money out and buy gold.

What do I know!

I can only understand simple stuff like this story I received from Ken. (again).

Once upon a time, a man appeared in a village and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each. The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 a piece and, as soon as the supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort.

He then announced that he would buy them for $20 each. This renewed the villager's efforts and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished again even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer was increased to $25 each, and the supply of monkeys became so small that it was a great effort to find even one monkey, let alone catch it!

The man then announced that he would buy the monkeys for $50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business trip, his assistant would now buy them on his behalf.

While the business man was away, the assistant told the villagers. 'Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected.'I will sell them to you at $35, and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each.'

The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys.

They never saw the man nor his assistant again, only monkeys, everywhere!

Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works

These Eyes

Went to Jeradyne's blog and fuyoh, these eyes.

Straightaway, an old song jumped to mind. 'These Eyes' by guess who? Yes by The Guess Who, circa 1969.

Artist: The Guess Who

Song: These Eyes

Album: Wheatfield

These eyes cry every night for you.

These arms long to hold you again.

The hurtin's on me yeah,

But I will never be free no my baby, no no.

You gave a promise to me yeah and you broke it, you broke it. Oh, no.

These eyes watched you bring my world to an end.

This heart could not accept and pretend.

The hurtin's on me yeah,

But I will never be free no no no.

You took the vow with me yeah.

You spoke it, you spoke it, babe.

These eyes are cryin

'These eyes have seen a lot of loves

But they're never gonna see another one like I had with you.

These eyes are cryin'

These eyes have seen a lot of loves

But they're never gonna see another one like I had with you.

These eyes are cryin'

These eyes have seen a lot of loves

But they're never gonna see another one like I had with you.

These eyes cry every night for you.

These arms, these arms long to hold you, hold you again.

These eyes are cryin'

These eyes have seen a lot of loves

But they're never gonna see another one like I had with you.

These eyes are cryin'

These eyes have seen a lot of loves

But they're never gonna see another one like I had with you.

These eyes are cryin'

These eyes have seen a lot of loves

But they're never gonna see another one like I had with you.

These eyes are cryin'

These eyes have seen a lot of loves

But they're never gonna see another one like I had with you.Baby, baby, baby, baby.

Canon Fotobook Launch - Part 5

There were quite some people I met just before we went in for the dinner proper, not all CanonMalaysians though.

I spoke to the very pleasant and friendly Mable from Compugates a while. Said hi to the elegant Joanne Kong from Ingram Micro and we both wonder where was Carine Chu. Met up with the other Goh fomerly from Compugates and the serious business looking Ooi 'Double 01' Chik Hoe. Well, finally I was told by the ever busy Hong Mee Mee and ever smiling Jeffrey Kung that it was time to go in for makan makan.

Before I made it to my table, I sat down for a while with Lee from Paperline and Kent from news making JW Media. A large part of their business today is transacted through Capital Office Supplies, I heard.

My table was with Richard Yeow and I sat with James of Plot Tech. On my right, again it was Rick Classic Office and Peter MOE, Kuching. Opposite was Alan 1 Recarts.

Nothing wrong with the food. Quite a few dishes were delicious, I remembered.

Canon launched a new series of printers with the predictable array of pretty models; supplied I suspect by Alan Choy, formerly with Canon. He is now the official and legitimate pimp. In my humble opinion, I suspect there may be a better way to present to dinner invitees a new series of printers. People may just only remembered that "yah, last night, Canon unveiled a series of new printers with some long arms, long legs girls". Emphasising on just a few key common features or benefits may trigger higher interest.

Joanne Kam came on to entertain. She was known to be good during her stint with 11 LA firing up Boom Boom Room years ago with her sex laced raunchy jokes. I have not been there although I saw her once briefly performing in a club in Jalan Ampang.

I read in the papers that she has slimmed down quite a bit. My eyesight must have deteriorated as she was still big that night. Would be a bit difficult to imagine her being bigger. She was funny 50% of the time. I suspect she needs new materials judging from her over usage of the "lonkang" line, referring to her cleavage. Her act was not a disaster, though.

She did not get near me, so this shot was from a distance.

It was good that Liew Sip Chon did not do a duet with her like he did with Ella. No offence to Liew. Just that Joanne is not Ella.

On my way out from the John, I joined Paul and Paul for a chat. Fotokem and Aver Awards. The other director Steven Wong there was the one who took me into Canon end 1974. Canon then was a Division in Guthrie Trading Sdn Bhd and Steven was the Division Manager. I think he can lay claim to being there right from the beginning when we then only have Micrographics, Copiers, Cameras and Calculators. Hong Mee Mee brought me an incentive check also at about that time and promised to have a drink with me but never did.

Back at my table, I remembered asking Rick if he has read what I wrote about him on this blog. He gave me the "bugger, I am so busy nowadays lah, so many things to do" jazz. A few minutes later I overheard him telling two young and pretty girls at the next table. "Call me lah, actually I am quite free one, no worries". Peter overheard that too and can attest. The two nubile looking girls were from ThunderMatch, an IT heavyweight reseller/distributor.

Canon FotoBook Launch - Part 4

During the cocktail hour before dinner, I was talking to Angie Yim and her companion when Goh Kheng Peow came over to shake my hand and wish me gong xi fa cai. Wonder where he learnt this wonderful way to greet people.

Goh Kheng Peow would be a perfect role model for all young people to make it big time in a short period of time. I do not know a lot of top people, but still Goh Kheng Peow is the only one I knew who took his company Compugates and public listed it in a record 5 years. He could have done it sooner if not for the fact that a minimum 5 years is required.

I do not have a recent picture of him but his face looked exactly like this, the one rightmost. I suspect the body as well, as no apparent weight gain was noticable.

Angie Yim was once upon a time the Marketing Executive for Larry Poon. Larry Poon came over from Rank Xerox to join us heading the copier department. See, people from Xerox coming over to join Canon is nothing new. Ask Richard Yeow.

The first time I have ever come across a most professional written Marketing Plan was the one done by Angie Yim. I was so incredibly impressed. Then, I thought it not possible to come up with such quality work. Angie has moved on since.

Today she runs a very successful specialty publishing company in Damansara Jaya. Once in a while many years ago, she used to drop by into my pub "Crazy Larry's" situated behind her place.

Recently I heard she got tired of eating lower standard food and has opened up a restaurent below her office called 'wok' something or something 'wok'. Competent, Successful and Enterprising. With such qualities, the lady can't be good looking as well, right? Hah, see for yourself on this photo I took that day. Angie is the one on the left.

After numerous gossips about so many people behind their backs, we parted. Yes, she asked about Christie Low. I wondered why he was not around too as Christie almost never missed a Canon function.

Tan Chiong Kee was my schoolmate/classmate in Methodist Boys' School, Kuala Lumpur. He joined Canon a long time ago (naturally) and was at one time supposed to be promoted to take charge of the Penang branch. Nonetheless, his company DeMarcus Communications is now a Canon authorised reseller/service provider or ISP or something in Batu Pahat. His two daughters are adults now, one in Scotland and another in Singapore. He looked pretty contented and so he should be. It was good to see him again after quite a few years. Here he comes. ..

This picture has a little bit of a blurry face as the camera on my phone has a rather slow focus feature.

Meat Loaf - Bat out of Hell

Meat Loaf was hospitalised for 3 days in London after receiving an award last week for "Classic Song" - Bat Out of Hell.

I hope this 57 years old American rocker is doing okay. I guess you would know by now that I am a rock music fan.

You would have heard some of his songs eg. I would do anything for love. Although you may not know it was sang by this plump singer.

My favorite song is this song that the award was given, from the album of the same name released in 1977. This album sold over 43 million copies. After more than 30 years, it still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually, and stayed on the charts for over 9 years. Each of the seven tracks on the album eventually charted as a hit single.

Canon FotoBook Launch - Part 4 will come later.

Canon FotoBook Launch - Part 3

Ah Yes, an anonymous feedback on the chatbox yesterday pointed me to this site.

http://www.photobook.com.my/

I wish people would drop this anonimity nonsense and tell me who they are. Anyway, I went in, read through quickly and lifted off some pictures.

With very limited information and even lesser knowledge, I guess this software is proprietary and this photobook company and Canon saw the advantages on working together combining brand recognition, useful product and established infrastructure to ....

I wish you guys every success.

So, dinner was supposed to start at 6.30pm. This is my second most favorite event ranking behind lunch.

I forgot to mention in my last post that I too met entrepreneur Billy Ea and the most affable Wang. From Beyen of course.

This time I managed to find a parking place in basement 2 (or was it c) and saw Chaspher Chooi with this big Mercedes Benz complete with mounted medals and everything. Gaya sangat! Chaspher Chooi owns Successive Enterprises in Ipoh and I heard he is quite a big shot there. Spoke to him a little upstairs during the cocktail hour and took a picture of him. Want to see?

Was there a best dress and best combed hair competition?

Canon FotoBook Launch - Part 2

This fotobook thing is quite interesting.

It seems that if you have a bunch of photos of some event and if you want to print a compilation as in a book, catalog, etc; you can go to a nearby Canonfoto authorised agent and give them your digital images. They should have a kiosk to do the work. They will be a position to help you select a template or the format, be it a booklet or so. The size as well. Then you pay those guys some money. The agent will then copy the whole thing into a CDR and send it in to some central processing centre. Then 10 days later, you shall get what you want for purposes of showing off to friends and family.

For those wanting to do this business. you will need to pay a RM5000.00 start up fee for the kiosk which will come with the computer and software. Another 5K for them to deduct for services or job done. They are afraid that you may be a bad paymaster. You should earn 20% if you go by the recommended street prices. Once the 5K credit goes below 1K then, you will need to top up; like your prepaid phone card (lah). Can understand?

I looked at the catalog and the front says 'A New Chapter in Business Opportunity'. The first line inside says 'Canonfoto is the dawn of a business opportunity'. Very impressive!

It seems that very high qualities are ensured via the use of the Canon (what else) ImagePRESS C7000VP.

Lau Peng Kai and daughter Kuan Cheng are behind this project and should be contacted for this possible money making New Chapter in Business Opportunity!

I tried to get some photos and more information visiting first the http://www.canon.com.my/ site. Nothing there. Then I tried the http://www.canonfoto.com.my/ site. It is still under construction. Hey guys, gotta move faster. Opportunity to give opportunities may not last too long.

Okay, so no visuals. For now. How about a picture of Simon Yam with a CanonMalaysian.

Maybe we should do a Canon fotobook of all pictures of our Canon girls taken with superstud Simon Yam.

Canon FotoBook Launch - Part 1

I met so many people.

Yesterday Canon Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd held a series of events at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Jalan Sultan Ismail with the main event being the launch of their FotoBook.

It was supposed to start at 9 am. I went in at about 11am just in time to cash in on the first tea break. Ain't I lucky. I went with Bee Geok, my Assistant General Manager. By the way, we can't make it earlier in view of our having to take care of the morning logistical part of the business as well as some other loose ends. I must have missed a speech earlier by Liew Sip Chon mentioning that CMMSB will hit RM700 million revenue by the end of this year. I wonder whether he said that "you know, this will not be possible if not for all your efforts in promoting Canon. I thank you all" thingy; the make-people-feel-good line.

Pang ushered us in to have a bit of meehoon and sashimi puffs. Shook hands with Er from Johor. He was looking good with a bit less hair though. Bumped into Francis Koh from SSOA Muar. Said hello to Alicia Hooi and I thought she is now a bit slimmer. Soon after, I sat besides Peter Thua from Syarikat MOE, Kuching and Francis Kim to witness a presentation by KK Leong. KK Leong said it is okay to charge customers for a number of services given even if their printers are still on warranty as the customers understand that some problems are caused by them. A case in point was a unit of iP1880 that has got some paper clips in somewhere. "It is okay to charge them. They understand that the warranty does not cover certain things. They don't mind." I look around and I saw a lot of faces looking like they really wanted to believe KK Leong.

Very soon, it was lunch time, my favorite time of the day. It was in Planter's Inn. They did not change the name of this cafe for 35 years. Talk about longevity.

Me and Bee Geok, we sat with Peter Thua (again), Rick Low, Pua, Patrick and Mdm Patrick from Best Office Systems, Kuala Terengganu. Along the same table we have Richard Yeow, Alan of Recarts. Peter of MOE said he is running the business now but his father Ming still controls the money. He said he has a smart father. I agree.

Alan said that in his spare time, he conducts survival camps for pre-teen kids and got Bee Geok interested enough to want to send in one of her kids. Alan does not charge and do it for free. So all you fathers and mothers .... Mdm Patrick was most enthusiastic and mentioned many times that today's kids are spoilt and most of the times, the parents are at fault. She does a fair bit of charity work in Kuala Terengganu. She knows Ann Lee and her family in KT. Patrick still comes down to KL to socialize and drink with the usual suspects on weekends. Minus Mario Lum, sadly.

Rick Low was his usual self with many suggestions on how every organisation can improve on how they go about doing things. Liew Sip Chon came over for a while and Rick was full of praise, saying later to me that Liew has got brains. This is one God fearing man, obviously.

Saw Alan2, the slightly plumb one and Yap Lye Meow on another table. On yet another table, I spotted Alvin Yeoh of Simplex and Michael Kok from Synergy. I wonder where was Alfred Chan.

Spoke to Law Lie Teik for some minutes. He was our branch manager in Sibu before he became a grandfather of two kids. Yeah, two kids, no kidding! I did not take a picture of him, so here's a photo of him years ago. This picture was when he won best branch.

Ho Bak Kee too. I asked him how was his house. I remember he was building a house to retire in. 'Good', he said. 'I have been living in it for 10 years already'. How time whiz us by.
